SIGMUND FREUB
In 1881 he graduated as a doctor. As a medical researcher, Freud was a pioneer in
proposing the therapeutic use of cocaine as a stimulant and analgesic.
Between 1884 and 1887 he wrote many articles on the properties of this drug.
Based on the experiments he carried out in the neuroanatomy laboratory of the
noted Austrian pathologist and histology specialist Salomon Stricker, he managed
to demonstrate the properties of cocaine as a local anesthetic.
In 1884 Freud published his work UBER COCA (On Coca), which was followed by
several more articles on the subject. Applying the results of Freud, but without
citing him, Carl Koller used cocaine in surgery and ophthalmological interventions
with great success, publishing about it and obtaining great scientific recognition for
it.
In 1886. Freud married Martha Benayrs and opened a private clinic
specializing in nervous disorders..
In 1899 he published what is considered his most important and influential work,
The Interpretation of Dreams, inaugurating a new discipline and way of
understanding the human mind, psychoanalysis...
After some years of personal and professional isolation due to the
incomprehension and indignation that in general his theories and ideas provoked, a
group of followers began to form around him, the germ of the future psychoanalytic
movement. His ideas began to interest the general public more and more and were
disseminated despite the great resistance they aroused.
